The Benefits of Meditation and Relaxation

If there is a single thing common for all of us, it’s solely the inciting urge to be happy and satisfied in our daily lives. It holds for everyone may it be a crying baby, an insecure teenager, a responsible family person, every single person seek something that would comfort us in either way possible.

But the question to ask ourselves is: Are we looking for happiness in the right place?

Trinlay Rinpoche, an accomplished meditator and scholar, has once said that the real source of happiness lies merely in the clarity of thoughts. External factors can and only be pleasurable as long as we are happy from the inside. According to Buddha’s teachings, meditation trains the mind to “not dwell in the past or contemplate about the future.” It lets the mind settle in the ‘now’ and allows us to see the beauty of the present and live happily in it.

In this article, we would like to discuss the idea of meditation that works so well and how we can resort to its benefits for becoming a better version of ourselves.

Meditation establishes a secure and strong connection between our internal and external worlds. It awakens the body like nothing other and benefits all aspects of the conscious and subconscious layers of the mind.

1. Meditation enhances empathy

Loving-kindness or compassion are fired through neural connections to the brain sites that regulate positive emotions like empathy and kindness. The deepest state of flow that meditation induces builds social connectedness and turns us into more affectionate and amicable people.

2. Meditation improves cognition

Researchers collectively agree that an excellent way for professionals to increase the likelihood of success is to keep meditation practice as a part of their daily routine and substantially make a desirable shift in professional life.

3. Meditation is a natural stress stabilizer.

Stress is the body’s response to unforeseen diversities, encountering immediate threats increase the level of cortisol, or stress hormone in the body and activates the Autonomic Nervous system, which is the arrangement that is responsible for fight-or-flight responses as well. Regular meditators have essentially claimed that they have lower cortisol levels in their brains, which signifies their resilience and insightful nature. 

4. Meditation promotes emotional health and well-being

Studies have moreover shown that meditation improves self-image and self-worth. When we meditate, we get clearer picture of our mind and become remarkably aware of the thoughts that drive our emotions and actions at the very moment.

5. Meditation increases attention by inducing a case of flow.

Those who have meditated have known the way meditation absorbs you into the moment. Mindful awareness naturally comes to us when we meditate and we reach a ‘flow’ state where our mind is in complete harmony with itself. Even people who meditated for short durations showed more focus than individuals who did not meditate at all. Meditation and relaxation thus are to be marked as the one single thing that carries along most advantages to bring to life, irrespective of caste, colour or creed.
